Rhonda and her young family moved to Port Alberni, B.C. from Alberta for business reasons in 2004.

Rhonda worked as an instructor at a local hairdressing school for two years. In addition to this she worked as a stylist at another shop in town.

In late 2006 Rhonda approached the local Community Futures office to discuss options for starting her own business. In early 2007 an opportunity arose for Rhonda to purchase an existing hairdressing/esthetics business. Rhonda decided to purchase the business and start a school at the new location. The school offers instruction done in modules to allow the students more time to learn their craft.

After a month spent on renovations the new shop opened in September 2007. Rhonda is now proudly operating her own school and professional salon complete with a day spa. She is now working closely with the local high school and hopes to soon be offering training to students who wish to use the credits for completion of graduation requirements.

Rhonda thanks Community Futures for helping her to “live her dream” of teaching hairdressing and owing a full service salon.
